(Port Angeles) -- High winds and heavy rains are to blame for a tree in a house south of Port Angeles.

It happened just after seven last night at 183 Mt. Pleasant Heights Lane.

Fire District Two officials say Andy Simms was inside the house and was able to get out without injuries.

A three-foot diameter fir tree up rooted in a 60-mile-an-hour wind gust. A neighbor registered the gust on his wind gauge. The tree crashed through the kitchen, laundry and dining rooms. Crews shut off the power to the house. The tree caused about 75-thousand dollars damage.
