Former Clallam Business Incubator dissolved

November 21st, 2012 - 5:44am

(Port Angeles) -- The defunct Clallam Business Incubator is on the way to fully being dissolved.

Clallam County and the Port Angeles School District agreed on a property transfer yesterday concerning the incubator.

The school board yesterday voted to assume the debt incurred by the incubator, at a little over $733-thousand dollars. That came in the form of a loan from the state through the county.

County Commissioners yesterday then agreed to assume the debt, and forgive the school district's obligation.

The incubator was mothballed three years ago. It was developed in 2004 through a series of partnerships as a way to help start-up businesses in the area.

It will eventually be replaced with a new Business Development Center, administered by Peninsula College, in partnership with other public and private entities.
