Alleged DUI driver damages historic school house

(Sequim) -- An alleged intoxicated driver crashed into the historic Dungeness School House. It happened about seven last night. Clallam County sheriff's deputies say 53-year-old Dale Harris of Sequim drove his 1979 Chevrolet van off the north side of Towne Road onto the steps of the school house.

The crash caused about a thousand dollars damage to the steps and parts of the concrete work of the building.

Deputies say Harris tried to run away from the scene, but was later apprehended in a nearby field.

He was arrested for investigation of Driving Under the Influence and taken to the jail.
