City gets $500K added to waterfront project

December 6th, 2012 - 7:28am

(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles has received half a million dollars to go towards the downtown waterfront improvement project.

The state awarded the city the maximum amount under its community revitailzation grant program.

The money will go into the funds paying for the first phase of the project now underway along Railroad Avenue downtown. The city will then shift money from that budget towards the next phase.

City community and economic development director Nathan West says that will most likely be work on developing a waterfront park on the west end of the waterfront project.

Eighteen projects across the state shared nearly 11 million dollars in state CERB grants.

West says Clallam County Economic Development Council executive director Linda Rotmark now sits on the CERB board, and that may have been key in the city getting a full allocation with its grant proposal.
