PREP BASKETBALL: Rider girls win, boys fall

The Rider girls (6-0, 6-1) took over sole possesion of first place in the Olympic League witn an exciting 49-36 win Friday at Bremerton.

Port Angeles took an early 7-6 lead, led 15-8 at the quarter, 27-16 at half and 38-23 gooing into the final period.

Bremerton, with two bulky players inside, battled back in the final period, but the Riders showed some tough defense down the stretch to get the win.

Maddie Hinrichs had 12, Macy Walker 11, with 9 each from Bailee Jones and Shayla Northern.

BOYS - Port Angeles fell to the Knights at home, 78-59, falling to 0-6 and 0-8 for the season.

Bremerton led 11-10, then 34-29 at the half. It was 53-40 going into the final quarter.

Deonti Dixon had 31 to lead the Knights, Marshall Elliot had 24 for the Riders, Garret Payton 10.

Port Angeles girls and boys play at Sequim next Friday, girls at 5, boys at 7.

In other boys games, Sequim mauled Klahowya 73-41, NK beat Port Townsend 59-43 and Olympic topped North Mason 67-21.

In girls games, Sequim beat Klahowya 42-30, PT upset NK, 42-37, Olympic edged by North Mason, 39-34 and Kingston beat Peninsula n a non-league game, 49-41.
