Sequim boys hoops team in Nevada for tournament

(Henderson, Nevada) -- The Sequim High Wolves boys basketball team is playing in Nevada today and tomorrow.

Coach Greg Glasser's squad is competing at the Foothill Holiday Classic Tournament in the Greater Las Vegas area.

The 6-and-2 Wolves flew to Vegas from Sea Tac yesterday.

They practiced in Henderson last night.

Venues for the tournament's White Division of eight teams include Del Sol High in Paradise and Foothill High in Henderson.

Sequim will play two games this afternoon, beginning with the Bonanza High Bengals at 1 p.m.

The Bengals have a 3-6 record and play in Nevada's Division 1.

The Wolves' second contest today will be against Abraham Lincoln High School of Denver at 3:40 p.m.

The Lincoln Lancers are 4-3 this season and play in Colorado's 5A division.

According to Maxpreps.com, the Lancers are led by 6-foot-9 power forward Gabriel Vazquez, averaging 15.4 points a game.

Both Sequim games today will be played at Del Sol High.

The Wolves will wrap up the tourney with a game against the Valhalla High Norseman of El Cajon, California tomorrow at 3:40 p.m at Foothill High.

Valhalla has a 7-2 record and plays in the San Diego Section of California's Division 2.

Other participating White Division teams are Granite Hills, California; Douglas County, Colorado; and Chaparral and Del Sol, Nevada.

Sequim will fly home to Sea Tac Friday afternoon.

The Wolves resume Olympic League play Tuesday against Bremerton.
