Sequim elk continue movement into lowlands

January 3rd, 2013 - 1:41pm

(Sequim) -- The Sequim elk herd continues its winter movement into the North Olympic Peninsula lowlands.

The Clallam County Sheriff's office reports the elk crossed West Sequim Bay Road last yesterday and continued moving north through the Bell Creek Valley.

By nightfall they were back in their old haunts in the agricultural areas northeast of Sequim.

At 7 this morning the elk were in the fields near the intersection of Schmuck Road and Port Williams Road, about 2 miles north of Highway 101.
