Waterfront improvement work on schedule

(Port Angeles) -- Work is on schedule for the Port Angeles downtown waterfront improvement project.
Community and Economic Development Director Nathan West says crews are in the final days of being allowed to work in the water because of an upcoming fish migration window.
It looks like all of the pile driving work will make it before the deadline.
West says work will continue above the water line as crews install a new esplanade that will extend over the water along Railroad Avenue between Laurel and Oak Streets.
The city hopes to have most of the first phase of the project finished up by this summer.
Efforts will also begin on developing a new park at the west end of the current project.
Primo Construction of Carlsborg is the first phase contractor.
The city has also hired a number of local companies for the design work.
