Vigil Friday on human trafficking

January 10th, 2013 - 8:42am

(Port Angeles) -- A vigil tomorrow to highlight human trafficking.

Soroptimist International clubs in Port Angeles will sponsor the hour-long event at Veteran\'s Park on Lincoln Street at noon.

The event is open to the public. Organizers say they want to bring more attention to the issue of buying and selling humans for slavery and sex trades.

The U.S. Senate recently passed a resolution designating January 11 a National Day of Human Trafficking Awareness. Soroptimist Clubs throughout the United States are holding similar events to raise awareness about the problem that often affects women and girls.
