(Port Angeles) -- The local humane society is using a big donation for big spay and neuter program.
Olympic Peninsula Humane Society executive director Mary Beth Wegener says they received a 10-thousand dollar donation.
She says that'll be used to provide 100 free spays and neuters this year through the shelter.
The humane society already operates a Spay/Neuter Assistance program as a low-cost options for cats and dogs living in Clallam County. Owners must meet certain income requirements in order to qualify for the program.
Last year, 239 low-cost spays and neuters were provided through the shelter. Typically the individual is asked to pay for a portion of the surgery and the shelter pays for the remaining cost. Thanks to this donation, the entire cost will be covered.
