Ballots out tomorrow for Sequim levies

January 22nd, 2013 - 5:44am

(Sequim) -- Sequim School District voters will have their say beginning later this week on two levy measures.

Ballots will be mailed out on Wednesday for renewal of the district maintenance and operations levy. Also included is a second, one-year levy that would be used to pay for new school buses.

The four-year maintenance and operations levy would be the same as the current levy, bringing in just over 5 and three quarters million dollars a year for the district. The rate would be about $1.60 per thousand dollars of assessed property valuation.

If approved, the bus levy would bring in just over one and a half million dollars. That levy would add about 44 cents per thousand of property valuation under the current assessments.

Ballots must be postmarked or returned to an official drop box by February 12th to be valid.
