NK stops Rider hoopsters

The Port Angeles girls basketball team suffered its first league loss at North K Tuesday, bowing 52-41, while the Rider boys were bounced by tne Vikings, 80-66

GIRLS - North shot 47 percent from the field and the Riders could not connect as the Vikings claimed a win. The Riders shot 19 percent, had several shots blocked and could not stop the Vikings. Krysta Johnson led the Riders with 14.

PA and Bremerton are tied at the top of the standings and the two teams meet in Port Angeles Friday,

The Viking boys went on a 14-0 run early and a 10-0 run after the Riders tied the score at 23 in the second period and that proved the difference in the foul-filled game.

North led 60-51 going into the final period.PA made 24 of 33 free throws, and North canned 21 of 27.

Hunter Hathaway had 16 for the Riders, Kendal Gill hooped 26 for the Vikings.

The loss eliminated the Riders from post-season play with four games left.
