PREP BASKETBALL: Rider girls back on top

The Port Angeles girls bounced back from a Tuesday loss at North K to throttle te Bremeerton Knights, 61-41 Friday and with the win the Riders regained first place in the standings.

The Riders used a strong team defense and some accurate shooting to zoom out to a 16-4 first period lead, then coasted tgo a 33-9 halftime bulge, causing 12 first half Knight turnovers.

Bremerton roared back to outscore the Riders 21-10 in the third period and closed gap at one time to 41-30.

PA hustled back and regained their momentum to put the game away.

Maddie Hinrichs had 16, Macy Walker had 14, Bailee Jones 10 as seven Riders scored. Sawyer Kluge had 21 for Bremerton, Terra Driskell ad 13, but only two other Knights scored.

PA is 12-1 in league play with games left at home against Sequim, then road tilts at Port Townsend and Olympic. Bremeton (10-2)meets PT and Olympic away, Sequim and Kingston at home.
