(Port Angeles) -- A large task force started meeting this week to come up with solutions for Port Angeles School District's aging facilities.
The task force, with more than 60 members, was named Monday. By mid-week it had already held its first meeting.
The school district formed the task force to come up with ideas for needed repairs and upgrades on a number of school buildings.
The task force is expected to meet for about a year before presenting the board with multiple options that will direct facilities in the district for the next 30-plus years.
The district is trying to deal with a number of buildings still in use that are more than 50 years old. The task force is one of the first steps in forming a plan for replacing the buildings that could lead to a bond measure going before voters.
Port Angeles High School, Stevens Middle School, Franklin and Hamilton Elementary schools are all about 60 years old and are beginning to fail.
