February 4th, 2013 - 6:30am

(Port Angeles) -- The search is still on for a convicted sex offender, who cut off his home-monitoring device and disappeared from Clallam County.

Phillip Curtis Shelly remained at large over the weekend after officials say he cut off his GPS-monitoring ankle bracelet late last week and put it in a mailbox in Port Angeles.

Shelly was convicted of raping a child in 1998. He was let out of prison four years ago.

The state Department of Corrections has asked for a warrant for his arrest.

The 52-year-old Shelly is white, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is five feet eight and weighs about 140 pounds.

He also has been known to use seven aliases.

Corrections officials say he may have made his way to Pierce County.
