Man arrested after scuffle with Clallam deputy

February 4th, 2013 - 8:58am

(Port Angeles) -- A Clallam County homeless man is in jail after he allegedly assaulted a sheriff's deputy.

Chief deputy Ron Cameron says 27-year-old Matthew McDaniel was booked into the jail early this morning.

Cameron says late last night a deputy made contact with a car at Railroad Bridge Park near Sequim. The park is closed after dark.

Cameron says a man in the car identified as McDaniel deliberately began yelling obscenities at the deputy. He then eventually pushed the deputy. The deputy tasered McDaniel and arrested him.

During an impound inventory of McDaniel's vehicle, a loaded pistol with 16 rounds was located in the area where McDaniel was sleeping. Evidence of alcohol and marijuana were also found.
