Townsend stuns Rider boys

Port Townsend shot itself into the 1A West Central District with a 48-42 win over the PA Roughriders before a small crowd in the Rider gym Tuesday.

The Redskins led 25-18 at halftime as turnovers hurt both teams.

PA came back to take a 33-31 lead into the last period, but the young Redskins regrouped and held off the PA charge in the last minute.

Brian Lesmaster hit two free throws with 1:04 left to make it 45-42, then Port Angeles missed, had to foul and the Redskins canned 6 of 11 freebies down the stetch.

Lemaster led PT with 13, Derek Schumachewr had 10 for the Riders who had 24 turnovers for the game and shot just 10/32 from two-point range, 3/15 from long range.

PA is now 3-16 and finishes he season against Olymnpic Friday and the Riders will honor 5 seniors.
