PREP BASKETBALL: PA girls win, boys lose finales

The Port Angeles girls (15-1,15-4) wrapped up regular season play with a hard-fought win over Olympic Friday, 38-35.
Both teams played good defense and both missed shots , but the Riders held the Trojans to 4 in the final period to nail down the win.
Macy Walker led the Riders with 12, Krysta Johnson had 8 as 7 Riders scored. Ashlie Payne had 19 for the Trojans, but only three others scored.
PA plays in West Central District next Thursday at Foss High at 7:45. Their second-round foe will be decided Tuesday when the tourney starts.Olympic, Bremerton, North K and Kingston are the other district entries from the Olympic League.
BOYS - Port Angeles tried to slow down Olympic with a zone defense, but the quick-handed Trojans foRCed seven turnovers early and sped out to a 21-14 first period lead, then it was 43-26 at the half as Olympic roared away.
Derek Schumacher had 15, Garrett Payton 12 for the Riders. Quentin Phillips had 24 for the Trojans, Brian Tyson had 20.
Sequim and Olympic share the league title with 15-1 records and they meet in a district playoff game Monday at North K at 7:00. KONP will air the game at 6:40 with Dan Kari calling the action.
Kingston, Bremerton and North K take the other district berths from the league.
In season ending girls games, NK beat North Mason 49-39, Kingston topped Bremerton 58-46. On the boys side, it was North Mason 76, NK 58, Kingston 47, Bremerton 48.
