Pirates scuttled in Kennewick

The Peninsula Pirate basketball teams will be playing in loser-out contests at the same time Sunday morning (10 a.m.) after first round losses in the 16-team state event Saturday.

MEN - It was Tacoma 73, Peninsula 60 in the first round. Poor shooting did the Pirates in as they hit only 18 shots in 59 tries. The Bucs were also chilly from the 3-point line, canning 8/21. They will play Walla Walla Sunday.Mp>WOMEN - The Pirate ladies bowed to Centralia, 59-49 in a close contest. The Blazers outscored the Pirates 24-6 off the bench to secure the win. the Pirates shad 24 turnovers and forced only 9. The Pirates meet Yakima Sunday, with both the women and mem playing at the same time on the two courts in the Toyota Center.
