Beach closed for tsunami-dock removal

(Forks) -- It may take a little longer to remove a Japanese dock that washed ashore on the Olympic Peninsula.
Olympic National Park officials say the dock, which was debris that floated across the ocean following the 2011 tsunami in Japan, should be fully removed early next month.
Original plans had it gone by the end of this month.
Meantime, the park is closing the coastal area between Goodman Creek and Jefferson cove to all public access.
Park officials say that will allow a Port Townsend company a chance to cut up the 185-ton dock and use a helicopter to hoist out the pieces.
They also say they want to protect public safety with the closure.
The work is dependent on weather and tides.
