State to hold public hearing on PA shoreline plan
March 18th, 2013 - 6:54am
(Port Angeles) -- The Department of Ecology holds an open house on the city of Port Angeles Shoreline Master program tonight.
DOE officials will be on hand beginning at six pm at the Vern Burton Community Center.
The DOE requires the city come up with an updated plan for how it will deal with potential development along its shorelines.
It also requires the city outline land-use strategies that mitigate development and leave some areas for preservation.
The city approved the update last summer, but the state has required a series of updates before it will sign off.
The DOE requires nearly two hundred cities and counties adopt similar shoreline plans.
