City of PA, largest labor group reach new contract agreement

(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles has reached an agreement with its largest labor union.

The city council this week agreed to the new deal with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Local 1619. It covers about 90 employees in the all departments besides police and fire.

Under the two-year deal, employees will get a two percent raise each year and agree to pay more toward their health insurance premiums. Employees will now pay 12.5 percent of the premimum, up from 10 percent.

The agreement will be retroactive to the start of this year.
