PA school board to take up possible position cuts

(Port Angeles) -- The Port Angeles School board takes up a resolution that could lead to 15 employees losing jobs with the district.
Each year, the school board must consider a similar resolution that would allow the superintendent to make Reduction in Force announcements.
It has been dealing with declining enrollment that also means fewer state and federal dollars.
Last year, the school board authorized nearly 50 positions to be cut, but the district managed to meet the number through retirements and attrition and no layoffs.
District attendance figures show the number of students enrolled in the district has dropped another sixty students since this time last year.
Officials expect another 70-student drop next year.
The school board meets tonight at seven pm at the Central Services Building.
