William Shore Pool close to another round of upgrades

April 23rd, 2013 - 6:20am

(Port Angeles) -- Clallam County Commissioners are expected today to grant a request from the William Shore Memorial Pool issue a bond for another round of sweeping upgrades to the facility in Port Angeles.

Executive Director Steve Burke says the district needs the bond to help pay for a major upgrade to the pool's water and air-handling systems. The district will roll a previous loan from the county used for previous upgrades into the new bond.

However, Burke doesn't see any problems with the district paying back the 650-thousand dollar bond. He says revenues continue to increase with higher demand at the pool.

Burke says a pre-construction meeting is slated for this Wednesday, and the work will begin a week after that. The pool will be closed for at least three weeks in June, for the bulk of the work.
