High winds delay PA cruise ship stop

April 30th, 2013 - 5:40am

(Port Angeles) -- High winds on the Strait of Juan de Fuca delayed the arrival of a small cruise ship in Port Angeles.

The American Spirit stayed at Friday Harbor at San Juan Island last night.

The vessel is now expected to arrive in P-A around 9:30 this morning and will mostly likely stay until Wednesday night.

The 205-foot ship is operated by American Cruise lines, which specializes in smaller, inland style cruises. It had been scheduled to dock at City Pier at 9:30 last night and stay until noon on Wednesday.

The ship carries about 100 passengers.

It will make similar stops in Port Angeles the next four Mondays.

The ship returns for eight more stops in September and October.
