Bids out for Deer Park project

(Port Angelse) -- Clallam County has moved a step closer to building an underpass for Deer Park Road at Highway 101.
Yesterday, county commissioners called for bids on the project.
When finished next year, traffic will no longer use a stop sign as an intersection to the Highway. Instead, the road will go under the highway. The current turn lanes will be removed.
The project is estimated to cost about seven million dollars. The county is using federal highway safety money to pay for the bulk of the cost.
Bids are due by May 28th. County officials hope construction will start by July.
The county has been studying new options for the intersection for more than 15 years.
