One dead, 4 others injured in Highway 101 collision

May 20th, 2013 - 6:07pm

(Sequim) -- One person was killed and four other people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday morning on Highway 101 between Port Angeles and Sequim.

The accident happened about 8:30 a.m. near milepost 258.

State Trooper Russ Winger says 52-year-old Bryan Crawford of Port Angeles was declared dead at the scene.

Winger tells Newsradio KONP that a westbound 1991 Honda Accord driven by 22-year-old Kayla Walls of Cedar City, Utah was slowed to make a left-hand turn onto Cliff Robinson Lane.

The Accord was rear-ended by a Ford flatbed truck driven by 28-year-old Stewart Wyckoff of Poulsbo.

The impact pushed the flatbed across the centerline and into the eastbound ditch.

The Honda rotated into the eastbound lane striking a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Crawford.

Winger says Crawford attempted to take evasive action and his pickup truck rolled over.

Crawford's passenger, 42-year-old John McMahon of Port Angeles, was transported to Olympic Medical Center and then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Wyckoff and his passenger, 20-year-old Corbin Reneman of Sequim, were transported to Olympic Medical Center.

The driver of the Honda was transported to OMH as a precaution.

The investigation into the accident continues.
