(Port Angeles) -- A 39-year old Port Angeles man was arrested Tuesday after threatening another man with a gun.
Clallam County Deputies were called to the 3000 block of O'Brien Road at about 3:00 PM yesterday, after a worker reported being threatened by a man who lived in a house nearby his place of work. The victim, Nathan Parks, 49 of Port Angeles, reported that a man, later identified by Sheriff's Deputies as Peter Shayne, had initially threatened him by yelling and making some obscene gestures, but then went back into his house and returned with a pistol. Parks said that Shayne fired several shots in the air with the gun, and when the victim began to run away, he said Shayne then fired several more shots.
Deputies who arrived on the call had to go through several hours of waiting as they tried to get the suspect to establish communication with them. Eventually, Shayne emerged from the house and was arrested without incident. Following the issuance of a search warrant, deputies recovered several air powered guns from Shayne's home, at least one of which, closely resembled an authentic firearm. This particular air pistol did not have the obligatory orange tip normally used to indicate that the firearm is a replica.
As of now, it's still unclear what motivated the suspect's actions. Deputies hope to learn that and more as they complete their investigation with follow-up interviews.
Shayne was charged with Assault in the First Degree and Indecent Exposure. He will appear in Clallam County Court today for his first hearing.
