Sequim removing old gas station sign

June 24th, 2013 - 6:15am

(Sequim) -- The city of Sequim is taking down a sign at an old gas station property the city recently purchased.

The pole sign on the former Gull Gas Station property, located on the northeast corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street comes down this morning.

The city of Sequim recently purchased the property. It has no plans yet what it might do with it. But city officials say they'll be adding benches to the corner of the property this summer as part of the Downtown Streetscaping project.

Some of the long term options that have been discussed for the property include creating a public space or making the property available for future development with the city having control over what type of development might occur on the highly visible corner.

The city plans to make the property available for public events in the meantime.
