Port exec resigns, will stay on under new contract

June 24th, 2013 - 11:42am

(Port Angeles) -- The top boss at the Port of Port Angeles is stepping down.

Jeff Robb resigned Monday morning as executive director. He cited health reasons.

But Robb said he wanted to remain with the Port through July of next year, in a diminished capacity, to help with the transition of a new executive director.

He would be under a new contract, which would continue to pay him his current salary, $138-thousand dollars. Robb just started a new, three-year contract at the beginning of this year.

The new contract figure did not set well with some members of the audience, who felt that would be financial drain on the Port, especially with the salary they would be paying to the new Executive Director, whenever one was hired.

Commissioners Jon Calhoun and Paul McHugh voted to approve the new contract while Port Commission President Jim Hallett voted against it.
