Ship loses power near Port Angeles

(Port Angeles) -- The state Department of Ecology and the U.S. Coast Guard are monitoring a ship that lost power near Port Angeles.

The "Grand Quest" cargo ship was approximately six miles offshore when an emergency call was received.

Ecology received a report from the Washington Emergency Management Division that the Grand Quest lost steering just after 12:15 a.m.

Ecology and the U.S. Coast Guard monitored the situation as a tug boat towed the cargo ship to anchor in Port Angeles.

Officials say there appears to be no environmental threat or injuries.
