Undetermined cause at Dungeness barn fire
July 8th, 2013 - 3:25pm
(Sequim) -- The official cause of a fire that leveled a barn at a Sequim area dairy farm Sunday will be listed as undetermined.
Fire District 3 Public Information Officer Patrick Young says few clues were left by the amount of heat generated and the damage to the structure.
The fire started early yesterday morning at 121 Clary Lane off Woodcock Road.
The barn was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived.
The blaze killed more than two dozen chickens, but no people were hurt.
Officials say some embers fell on neighboring homes, but no other structures ignited.
In addition to the structure, some farm equipment, antiques and a Ford pickup were also destroyed.
The barn was more than a hundred years old.
The preliminary damage is estimated at about 150-thousand dollars.
