NOLS looks to expand Sequim library

July 9th, 2013 - 5:38am

(Sequim) -- Should the Sequim library be expanded?

That's the topic of a community meeting tonight at the Sequim Branch of the North Olympic Library System.

Library director Paula Barnes says the library board is mulling options for the building that has become more cramped over the years. She says there are two purposes for tonight's meetings.

"One is to educate the community on the process that we are going through," said Barnes. "The second is to get individual and community groups' input on how the library could best serve their needs. We'll work with the architects to translate that information into a design that we hope will last for the next 20 to 30 years."

Barnes says the passage of the library levy increase in 2010 assured the board that there will be financial stability in expanding the library.

The meeting runs from 6-8 tonight at the Sequim library.

The library board is also conducting an online survey on the NOLS website.
