Sequim looks to close "missing link" of Olympic Discovery Trail

July 10th, 2013 - 6:23am

(Sequim) -- The city of Sequim is trying to close the so-called missing link of the Olympic Discovery Trail running through the city.

It's been nearly a decade of struggle over what to do with the nearly mile-long section between North Blake Avenue and North Sequim Avenue.

The city of Sequim is sponsoring a public forum tomorrow, and hopes that the meeting will provide direction for the City Council on how to complete this portion of the trail.

Sequim Assistant Pubic Works Director David Garlington says onee of the proposals with the least amount of impact involves utilizing the existing roadway as the bike trail and the sidewalks as the pedestrian path. The roadway would only require some signs and lane paint, but the sidewalks would require a bit more work due to ADA regulations.

The public forum take place at Sequim's Transit Center, 190 West Cedar Street. The meeting is scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.
