July 19th, 2013 - 6:17am

(Sequim) -- Things go purple crazy in Sequim. Today kicks off the Sequim Lavender Weekend.

The festival celebrates the bounty of lavender in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley with two simultaneous events running today through Sunday.

The Sequim Lavender Farm Faire is based at Carrie Blake Park. Executive Director Scott Nagel says they will feature a large arts and crafts section, food and beverages, some of the best musical entertainment in the region and tours of the larger area lavender farms.

In downtown Sequim, the Sequim Lavender Festival segment will feature a street fair of over 150 vendors, a food court, farm tours, a 3-day concert series, and more. Owner of the Sequim Lavender Company Paul Jendrucko, also known as Dr. Lavender, said that the festival is a celebration of lavender harvest that happens in July.

A full rundown of all the events is available online at sequimlavenderweekend.com.
