County to offer training on managing disaster response

Port Angeles -- When a natural disaster occurs, numerous people are often caught without the proper supplies to sustain themselves for any length of time.
For those who've thought about getting involved with assisting the community during an emergency situation, you now have an opportunity.
The Clallam County Emergency Management Unit is providiong Management Training for managing disasters.
Volunteers will receive training on managing other volunteers with the distribution of emergency supplies when a disaster occurs. FEMA has created distribution scenarios based on the number of people who need help. They are called C-PODS.
Interested volunteers should contact Jayme Wisecup at the county's emergency management division this week. Training begins this Monday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at Roosevelt Elementary School in Port Angeles.
