Associate of man wanted in armed burglary arrested

Port Angeles -- Port Angeles police made an arrest Tuesday night and are still looking for another man who was allegedly involved in a Sunday morning burglary and theft of firearms on Cherry Hill.

Authorities had a standoff of several hours Tuesday in Gales Addition.

They arrested 24-year-old Cory Alexander Furford of Port Angeles.

Authorities say Furford is known to be associated with a man suspected in the weekend burglary. Port Angeles P-D Deputy Chief Brian Smith says they are still looking for 24-year-old Steven Dean Goodman.

Goodman is a white male who stands 6-feet-2 inches tall and weighs 195 pounds. He has blue eyes and light-colored hair.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Port Angeles Police Department by calling 9-1-1.

At this time the firearms stolen in the burglary have not been recovered.

No one should approach Goodman. Call 9-1-1 immediately.

Officers served a search warrant for Goodman and Furford Tuesday afternoon at a home in the 23-hundred block of East Third Avenue.

They arrested Furford and he's being held on 5-thousand dollars bail in the Clallam County jail.

Police believe he's a known associate of Goodman, who is suspected in the burglary that was was interrupted by the property owner Sunday morning.

Two Port Angeles residents, 27-year-old Matthew Tyler Charles and 24-year-old Roxanne Rae Venske, were arrested for investigation of criminal charges, including burglary.

Charles and Venske were slated for appearances in Clallam County Superior Court today.

Charles faces charges of burglary in the first degree, theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Venske faces charges including accomplice to burglary in the first degree and eluding police. Charles and Venske were arrested Sunday night after a daylong search involving helicopters and K-9 units in a wooded area west of the Elwha River.

North Olympic Crimestoppers is also offering a one-thousand dollar reward for information leading to Steven Goodman's arrest.
