31st Annual Joyce festival this weekend

August 2nd, 2013 - 6:18am

(Joyce) -- The 31st Annual Joyce Daze is upon us. Join the Joyce community and blackberries galore Saturday.

Festival chariman Ed McKay says it's not only a great community gathering, but it serves as a profitable scholarship tool.

The events start at seven Saturday morning with a pancake breakfast at the Crescent Grange.

The event also includes a list of local musical entertainment. There will also be vendors around Joyce and of course the festival parade starts at one PM down Highway 112 in Joyce.

But a lot of people are in it for the pies. A blackberry pie contest is part of the event. McKay says the the festival makes their own pies too.

McKay expects 2,000 to 4,000 people to attend the festival.
