Lauridsen Boulevard in Port Angeles to be closed for new bridge construction

August 2nd, 2013 - 6:34am

(Port Angeles) -- Lauridsen Boulevard will have some detours beginning this coming Monday, at 10 a.m., and the street will be closed in the vicinity of the bridge, to all vehicles and pedestrians, as a new bridge will be built.

Detours will be in place around the bridge area, and a temporary 4-way stop, with advanced rumble strips, will be in place at the intersection of Race Street and Park Avenue.

The aging bridge, built in 1969, will be replaced with a single-span concrete structure. It will enhance pedestrian facilities with widened sidewalks, extend bicycle lanes across the bridge, and a much bigger turn area at the intersection.

The new bridge will look very similar to the style of the 8th street bridges.
