(Port Angeles) -- The Port of Port Angeles has picked a contractor to build a new access road at Fairchild Airport.
This week the port accepted the bid 815-thousand dollars from Scarsella Brothers. This will be the Seattle-area company's fourth project this year in Clallam County. It's the same company also doing the Highway 101 widening project between Sequim and Port Angeles, a new underpass at Deer Park Road and the new Lauridsen Boulevard Bridge in Port Angeles.
Local contractor Bruch and Bruch was the second low bidder on the airport project at about 860-thousand dollars.
Crews will build a new paved access road; install dry utility infrastructure, put in a stormwater conveyance system, relocate a fence, and put in new lighting and wetland mitigation.
Four of the five sealed bids came in under the engineer's estimate just over a million dollars.
