(Port Angeles) -- Crews made quick work of demolishing the old Laurdisen Boulevard Bridge in Port Angeles.
By mid afternoon, the bridge had been knocked down. Crews began taking the bridge down in earnest Tuesday afternoon.
Crews knocked the concrete and rebar into the ravine below.
The debris will be trucked out over the next weeks. Meantime crews will continue to take down the abutments on each side of the former bridge.
Next year, a new span will connect Lauridsen Boulevard with Race Street. It will be wider with more pedestrian and bicycle features. It will also provide a better turning area on and off Race Street.
