Clallam Fair continues

August 16th, 2013 - 6:18am

(Port Angeles) -- The Clallam County fair kicked off in Port Angeles yesterday under threatening skies.

But fair officials say rain that hit the fairgrounds Thursday afternoon, didn't seem to deter attendance.

Although official numbers aren't available yet, organizers say it appears day one was fairly strong.

Day two brings another full day of different entertainment. Among it, for the first time ever the fair is bringing in a special equestrian program.

The Cavallo Equestrian Arts will be the featured grandstand show today.

The group will perform three shows beginning this afternoon.

Cavallo is a traditional trick-riding troupe. The riders use their horses as platforms for aerobatics, gymnastics, juggling and trick riding.

The show is free with fair entry at 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the grandstand.

The grandstand will also feature plenty of horse action prior to the grandstand show with the 4-H Western Games and other local horse showing.

Other entertainment today includes Night Beats at Noon on the Wilder Stage. Later Brian Ledbetter will do magic there and a Tom Petty Tribute Band performs two shows at four and six pm.
