Fair officials happy with attendance this year

August 19th, 2013 - 5:26am

(Port Angeles) -- The Clallam County Fair wrapped up Sunday.

Fair organizers say they believe attendance was back up again this year.

Official numbers won't be known for a couple of days, but fair manager Shari Ioffrida says the preliminary results show the counts were up for at least three of the four days.

The fair capped with the annual talent and variety show. A barbershop quartet named No Batteries Required finished first. But the group was just a few votes ahead of the second place finisher, young violinist Kate Powers who played a solo piece she arranged that brought the audience to its feet and calls of "virtuoso".

The final event was the annual demolition derby that played again to a sold-out grandstand.
