County to upgrade incident command vehicle

August 20th, 2013 - 5:44am

(Port Angeles) -- An expensive Clallam County vehicle is getting more expensive. But according to Sheriff Bill Benedict, it's worth it.

Clallam County Commissioners have approved funding for upgraded communications equipment for the Incident Command Vehicle. Benedict says the vehicle gets quite a bit of use ranging from criminal investigations to disaster response.

The improvements will bring the total cost of the vehicle to about $380-thousand dollars.

Most of the cost is being covered by a FEMA grant.

Benedict said the county is not buying a new vehicle. Instead it will upgrade its current one.
