August 20th, 2013 - 5:46am

(Port Angeles) -- Peninsula College President Rr. Luke Robins told the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce Monday that, while he's been here a year now, he didn't want to jump right in and make changes.

Dr. Robins called this past period a 'transitional year."

Dr. Robins was enthusiastic about the prospects of the men's and women's soccer teams at the college. Both are receiving national rankings heading into the season.

There's also good news on the fiscal side, with the receipt of nearly $2-million dollars in federal energy grants the college is using for upgrading facilities.

Robins told the Chamber his goal is for Peninsula to become a "destination college", drawing more students here to pursue career education.

Among the capital projects planned for Peninsula is Allied Health Building, but there are no immediate plans for that as yet.
