ONP celebrates 75th birthday with open house
August 29th, 2013 - 5:24am
(Port Angeles) -- It's been 75 years since the Olympic National Park was first founded, and park officials are inviting the public to celebrate with them at an open house tonight (Thursday).
The open house will celebrate the community's support since it was officially founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 29, 1938.
Park spokesperson Rainey McKenna says the visitor center will be open between 5:30 and 7:30 tonight for people to gather. There will be refreshments and displays. She says the park wants to have a chance to thank the local community for its support the past 75 years.
Last year, Olympic National Park hosted 2,824,908 visitors.
