(Port Angeles) -- Prosecutors have charged a Port Angeles man in connection with a domestic violence incident that led to the man allegedly running a woman off the highway.
34-year-old Michael Huntzinger faces domestic violence and assault charges in the case.
According to law enforcement, they received a call about 1:30 Sunday morning of an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch along Highway 112 near the Elwha River Bridge.
Deputies later learned the vehicle may have involved a hit and run and possible abduction.
A second vehicle that was seen leaving the scene was described as travelling toward Port Angeles.
Law Enforcement found the second vehicle and stopped it near Albertson's where Huntzinger and a female were contacted.
Chief criminal deputy Ron Cameron says further investigation revealed the man had allegedly assaulted the woman several times earlier in the day and took away her ability to call for help.
The woman was able to escape and leave in the vehicle but was pursued by Huntzinger, who allegedly rammed her vehicle at a high rate of speed and ran her off the road near the bridge.
Deputies say he then made her get into his vehicle.
Huntzinger was arrested early Sunday morning. He remains in jail on 20-thousand dollars bond
