PA council to interview candidates for vacancy

August 30th, 2013 - 5:26am

(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles will come a step closer to filling a vacancy on the city council.

Tuesday evening, the council will interview candidates to fill the seat vacated by Max Mania.

So far, Dan Gase and Peter Ripley have announced they are applying for the position. Ripley is running for the seat this fall. Gase is running unopposed for a different position on the council.

Under council rules, whoever is appointed will have a short time on the council. Once the election is certified in November, the winner will take over the spot.

The council will conduct interviews in a special meeting Tuesday at 5 pm at city hall.
