(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles officially says "so long" to its long-time public works director.
The city has set aside this afternoon from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. for a retirement celebration honoring Glenn Cutler.
The event will take place in the Vern Burton meeting rooms at City Hall.
The public is invited to attend and join in wishing him well.
Cutler has been the city's public works and utilities director since 1999.
Cutler has overseen a number of major projects during his tenure with the city, included replacing the 8th Street Bridges, completion of The Gateway Center downtown and closure of the Port Angeles landfill and transitioning to an export system.
He and his staff have helped in the design and construction of water mitigation facilities associated with removal of the Elwha dams to protect the city's water supply, and oversaw design and construction of the city's mandated combined sewer overflow project.
Craig Fulton is taking over as the city's next public works director.
As for Cutler, he and his wife plan to stay in Port Angeles.
