PA, Crescent schools start classes Tuesday

September 3rd, 2013 - 5:23am

(Port Angeles) -- School starts today for the largest school district on the Olympic Peninsula.

Port Angeles schools along with Crescent open the doors for students again this morning.

Sequim School District returns for classes tomorrow.

A returning wrinkle for Port Angeles Schools this year: All-day kindergarten.

The district was eligible for state funding beginning this year to re-launch all-day kindergarten.

Full-day kindergarten was last implemented in the School District during the 2008-09 school year. It was funded with money approved under Initiative 728, but the legislature cut that funding as the economy soured and the Port Angeles district decided to dissolve full-day kindergarten until state money was restored.
